Nagy Jenő (1891–1980) was the founder and owner of the “Szent György” pharmacy at Marosvásárhely, until the pharmacies’ nationalization, 2nd April 1949. After that, until his retirement he managed the local pharmacy of Romanian State Railway. His greatest merit is that he was the first editor and publisher of a pharmaceutical almanac in Transylvania, the “Pharmacists’ directory and pocket calendar” – published in 1921. This almanac lists on 161 pages all the pharmacies in Transylvania and Romania. This publishment was very useful for the pharmacists because they had opportunity of forming personal and professional relationships. The almanac also includes a list of all the accessible medicines in that period, which was edited and listed by Dr. Béla Schmidt from Marosvásárhely.
