This study aims to describe the influence of transgenerationally transmitted aversive family scripts and messages regarding partner choice on adult attachment within romantic relationships. We looked at two cohorts: 91 spouses without aversive scripts and 23 spouses presenting aversive family scripts. The transgenerational scripts were studied by family tree and semistructural questionnaire (family stories). Adult attachment styles were studied through an abbreviated version of Experiences of Close Relationships self- assessment questionnaire. Results: there was no significant difference in attachment styles across the groups. Content analysis of family stories showed that there was a significant difference between securely and insecurely attached individuals in some parameters of narrative psychology.
