The Hungarian Physicians and Naturalists Society 10th meeting 150 years ago was hold in Marosvásárhely

The aim of our paper is to commemorate an important event of sciences history. Based on Ferenc Bene’s recommendation the Hungarian Physicians and Naturalists meetings, with the aim to promote science, started to be kept in 1841. Till 1933, with 3 interruptions, a total of 40 meetings took place in various cities, out of them 11 congresses were conducted in several places of Transylvania. The 10th congress that was actually the third meeting out of the ones kept in Transylvania, was hold in Marosvásárhely with 491 participants. This event meant special honor for the city. The congress took place in the era of neo-absolutism from August 24, through September 2, 1864. A volume wits the title of Munkálatok (Workings) and in 7 cases Napi Közlöny (Daily Bulletins) were published about the meetings kept in 6 sections. There was a medalion minted and a marble plaque placed.
