Physicians’ and Chemists’ Graves form the Period between the Two World Wars in Cluj/Kolozsvár Central Cemetery

Written by Gaal György

This study presents the graves of 18 physicians and 3 pharmacists from the „Házsongárd” Cemetery from Cluj/ Kolozsvár. Between them there are 3 full professors, 3 associate professors and 5 privat-docents of the “Franz Joseph” University. One doctor was health officer of Cluj/ Kolozs county (Filep) another of the town Cluj/Kolozsvár (Scheitz). Following WW I most of them became practitioners, by chance they got a job at the newly founded Jewish Hospital or at the Calvinist Hospital. It is illustrative that none of them got a grandiose funeral monument.
