Like any other surgical intervention, the hip arthroplasty is not exempt from bacterial complications. Rapid and accurate differential diagnosis is very important to create an appropriate treatment protocol. Currently we have no investigation to allow us to do this with accuracy of 100%. Material and method: Between 2004 and 2009 at 68 patients with total hip arthroplasty we applied a scoring system establishing the differential diagnosis. Results: Using this table we were able to identify more quickly the signs of infection. The advantage of our scoring system is that this table is cumulative.
