Drug use by pupils of secondary vocational schools in Republic of Moldova

A group of 774 students in secondary vocational schools (girls – 345, boys – 429) was anonymously questioned on drug abuse and the main reasons reported by students, which justify their consumption. The study showed the following: drug consumption by students is occasional; most of the students first tried a drug during their vocational secondary school studies; the experience of drug use is higher among boys than girls; drug use among boys who are from urban areas is higher than those living in villages; most of which used drugs in the past 30 days, they did this at school; marijuana (hashish, cannabis, grass) is the most common drug used by students; smoking is the major route of drug administration; pupils use drugs when they are in discos, bars, restaurants, school premises, streets, parks; most often students use drugs with friends or colleagues; the majority who have been drugged, get drugs from friends.
