The clinical importance of US diagnosis in postpartum is characterized by duality. At women with uncomplicated postpartum, the involution processes of the pelvis can be followed easily and accurately with the help of US diagnosis, although in this case the simpler physical examinations are informative enough. But at women with complicated postpartum the role of sonography is very important, it is the most informative examination method, which helps to acknowledge the postpartum diseases. In our paper we followed the involutive processes of the pelvis in uncomplicated postpartum women. The most important part was the uterus examination. With US we determined the dimension of the postpartum uterus and of the endometrial cavity on postpartum days 1, 3, 5, 7, 14, 28, 42. We investigated the determinative factors of the involution beat: parity, infant birth-weight, smoking, but we didn’t find significant differences, moreover, despite the theoretical considerations, we didn’t find important differences of the involution beat between breast-feeding and bottle-feeding mothers.

Keywords: physiological postpartum, uterus, US examination.
