The use of medicinal herbs in actual fitotherapy presented in Nadányi’s thesis, “Alexikepus”

Written by Péter H. Mária

Antoine Mizauls’s (1510-1578) “Alexikepus seu auxiliaries hortus” written in Latin appeared in Paris in 1564. The book was traduced in Hungarian by János Nadányi (1641-1707), entitled “Kerti dolgok leirása”, which appeared in Cluj in 1669. The author enumerates 72 de plants in his work, showing their therapeutic utility. In this paper we describe from the 72 plants those, which are still used in fitotherapy, now their chemical composition being known.
