The present study is meant to overview the diagnostical and surgical history of the endolaryngeal pathology from its beginning up to now. Although situated superficially, the endolarynx brought the specialists’ attention to its importance in pathology only by the middle of the 19th century. The model for the surgical treatment of the endolaryngeal pathology was the classic surgical intervention with approach from the exterior. The invention of the indirect laryngoscopy by Czermak in the middle of the 19th century made possible the indirectoscopic laryngeal examination and laid the foundation of the indirectoscopic endolaryngeal surgery. The invention of the operating microscope and the introduction of the tracheal intubation anesthesia helped the developement of the endoscopic interventions. The video sistem based on the classic microscope eased the diagnostic procedure, helped to increase the accuracy of the surgical treatment. This is the method we introduced in 1997 to our department. The study reports the results achieved between 1997 and 2005.
